Notes:
- Edge Hill Progress Hall used for operations and administration
- On August 7, 1942 the 8th Fighter Control Squadron landed at Milne Bay and began a life of hard work and danger. Captain Richard Fulcher had worked for promotions for the enlisted men, but for the most part they endured the dangers and privations badly under-ranked. The men threw themselves into the job and learned to cope with it all. A Second Lieutenant reportedly took over a platoon of the squadron and tried to run things with an iron fist. He supposedly even ordered the platoon to remain at their plotting table during air raids, a dangerous and unnecessary practice that was not approved by higher authority. When the good Lieutenant declined to remain with his men who reluctantly, but faithfully, obeyed the unwise order and quakingly took to cover, the dam burst. Those men openly defied his subsequent orders and the sadder but wiser officer transferred to less demanding duty.
- Despite native advice, the unit camp site was located on the river flats with tents built 1 to 2 metres above gorund. Unit was warned of flood and personnel were evacuated before the flood arrived, however, Cpl T.A. McGlade went back for his cigarettes and was swept away and drowned. His body was found jammed under a tree a short distance from the camp.
