Notes:
  1. Originally operated by 8th Fighter Grp USAAC followed by the 565th SAW Bn US Army.
The first mission of the 8th Fighter Control squadron was to set up the air defence system for the Brisbane area. They set up spotter sites, radar sites and communications to the Fighter Sector Control Centre in the Wills Building in Brisbane. Captain Richard Fulcher, Commanding Officer, kept the squadron busy and even had found time to qualify the men on small arms including Thompson submachine guns. By July Fulcher was promoted Captain and moved to Headquarters to become Group Operations Officer. He was replaced in the 8th Fighter Control by the squadron adjutant, Lieutenant Jose Berumen. The first RAAF personnel arrived on 03 Aug 42. Four US Army pilots remained to act as controllers. The Sector was located in the Wills Building on the 3rd Floor
