Notes:
  1. Originally operated ASV equipment with a Yagi aerial, motor generator, batteries and a Briggs & Stratton battery charger. Primarily employed for ship detection.
  2. Transferred to Pinkenbah Wharf
  3. On west side of airstrip - 146d31m Lat 5d37m Long 300ft high
  4. Equip not being withdrawn was destroyed by explosives. Included the array and mast.

  6. While the unit was at Saidor, the 'doover' was destroyed by fire in August 1945. Two versions are propsed for the fire. One was that it was started by Japanese soldiers bu this was never positively confirmed. The other theory was that it was started by a Radar Mechanic with an overheated soldering iron. This, also, was not confirmed but is the version most widely accepted (but not universally) by current members of the unit at the time. Strangely, all the unit A50 History sheets for this period are missing!
